Long ago, in days of yore, when the world was wild and new,
Paul Bunyan roamed the land, with his faithful ox in view.
With each step they took, the earth would shake, as they journeyed far and wide,
Leaving behind a trail of tales, of their adventures side by side.

One day as they wandered, through valleys deep and wide,
Paul Bunyan dragged his axe behind, as Babe the Blue Ox sighed.
And with each step, a mighty river formed, with water blue and wide,
The Mississippi, born from the earth, with Paul and Babe as its guide.

As they walked, the river grew, carving valleys deep and true,
With each footfall of Paul and Babe, the landscape they'd renew.
And when they paused to rest, the riverbed would settle still,
Creating bends and curves along the way, with a meandering, winding thrill.

So here's to Paul Bunyan and Babe, the creators of the mighty stream,
Whose steps gave birth to a river, with waters pure and clean.
For the Mississippi flows on, through valleys, plains, and glen,
A testament to the legend of Paul Bunyan, forever remembered then.
