| Notes: | The Ventriloquist should talk normally. The Dummy should talk without moving their lips but in a funny voice. The confusion builds as the Dummy gets increasingly rude. Great for practicing performance skills! |
([Ventriloquist] enters carrying [Dummy] - another Scout who pretends to be a puppet, sitting stiffly with a frozen smile.)
[Ventriloquist:] Ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to present my amazing ventriloquist act! This is my dummy, Charlie!
[Dummy:] (Without moving lips, in funny voice) Hello, everyone!
[Ventriloquist:] Charlie, let's show them what we can do! Can you sing a song?
[Dummy:] No.
[Ventriloquist:] What? Come on, Charlie, sing a song for the nice people!
[Dummy:] I don't want to.
[Ventriloquist:] (Nervous laugh) Ha ha! Charlie's just being silly! How about you tell us a joke?
[Dummy:] Your face is a joke.
[Ventriloquist:] (Shocked) Charlie! That's rude! Apologize!
[Dummy:] No.
[Ventriloquist:] Charlie, please cooperate! This is our big performance!
[Dummy:] This is boring. I want to go home.
[Ventriloquist:] You can't go home! You're a dummy! You don't even have a home!
[Dummy:] I live in a box in your closet. It smells like your gym socks.
[Ventriloquist:] (Getting frustrated) That's it! Charlie, if you don't start cooperating, I'm going to put you back in the box!
[Dummy:] Good! At least there I don't have to look at your face!
[Ventriloquist:] THAT'S ENOUGH!
([Ventriloquist] grabs [Dummy] and shakes them roughly.)
[Dummy:] (Moving lips now, in normal voice) Hey! Stop shaking me! That hurts!
[Ventriloquist:] AH HA! You moved your lips! You're a terrible dummy!
[Dummy:] And you're a terrible ventriloquist!
[Ventriloquist:] Fine! If you won't cooperate, I'll do the act by myself!
([Ventriloquist] throws [Dummy] aside. [Dummy] falls to the ground dramatically.)
[Ventriloquist:] (To audience) Thank you, ladies and gentlemen! That concludes our show!
[Dummy:] (From the ground, without moving lips) You're fired!
[Ventriloquist:] You can't fire me! I'm the ventriloquist!
[Dummy:] Then I quit!
(Both storm off in opposite directions. Blackout.)
