Burning Schoolhouse

| Notes: | Works best with 4-6 Scouts but scales up easily. Optional to include an adult as the 'man'. Lots of action and pacing. |
(Several Scouts are standing center stage chatting casually.)
[Man:] (Runs in from stage left, waving arms.) The schoolhouse is burning! (Points frantically offstage.)
[Scouts:] (All react with panic.) The schoolhouse is burning! The schoolhouse is burning!
(Scouts rush offstage to the right. A moment later, one Scout runs back across to the left carrying a small cup.)
(Another Scout follows, crossing the other way with a cup, as the first returns. This continues as Scouts begin crossing in both directions, frantically urging each other on.)
[Scout:] Hurry! Hurry! It's burning faster!
(The crossing escalates in speed and urgency. Scouts call out: 'Don't spill it!' - 'Move it!' - 'Faster!' - 'Careful with it!')
(Eventually the man stops one of the Scouts mid-run.)
[Man:] Hey! You're never going to put out that fire with those tiny cups of water!
[Scout:] Water? This isn't water-it's gas!
