The Angel in Fur

Notes: | A Scoutmaster Minute using the bond between people and dogs as a reflection on service, loyalty, and the quiet ways Scouts can make a difference. |
Someone once said, "When God saw we needed an angel, He sent one disguised as a dog."
Think about it: dogs don't judge. They don't ask questions. They're just... there. When you're sad, they know it. When you're excited, they celebrate with you. When you've had a hard day, they sit close and wait. They don't need words. They just serve.
It's not a stretch to say that the way a dog loves and helps others lines up with the Scout Law. Loyal. Helpful. Friendly. Brave. Kind. Obedient. And always ready for the next good turn.
Not all of us can be heroes in the spotlight. But we can all be like that angel in fur—doing the quiet work, staying close to those who need us, and wagging our tail when the world needs joy.
So tonight, think like a dog. Be the quiet helper. Be the steady friend. Be the one who waits at the door when someone needs a little light in their life.
