Notes:Understanding the difference between being wisely thrifty and being stingy.

There's a big difference between being thrifty and being cheap. A cheap person won't chip in for pizza with the patrol. A thrifty person brings their own snacks but shares when they can. A cheap person buys the worst gear and replaces it constantly. A thrifty person saves up for quality gear that lasts.

Being thrifty is about getting good value and not wasting resources. Being cheap is about refusing to spend, even when spending would be right or generous. One is wisdom; the other is selfishness.

A Scout is thrifty, but a Scout is also helpful and kind. That means we're smart with resources, but we're generous when generosity is needed. We save money when we can, but we're not afraid to invest in good gear, help fund a troop activity, or treat a friend. Because thriftiness is about being wise, not about being selfish.
