You're standing at the edge of the swimming platform, looking down at cold water. Or at the bottom of the climbing wall, looking up at the top. Or preparing to try a skill you've never done before. This is the moment of truth: will you jump, or will you step back?
The first time is always hardest. Once you've jumped, you know you can do it. But before that first leap, fear whispers all the reasons not to try. What if you fail? What if it hurts? What if you look foolish?
A Scout is brave enough to try new things despite fear. That first jump teaches you something valuable: you're more capable than your fear wants you to believe. Every time you face a fear and push through it, you expand your confidence and your capabilities. The jump itself matters less than what you learn about yourself by taking it.
