The Extra Mile

You're assigned to clean the camp kitchen. You could do the bare minimum - wash the dishes, wipe the counter, call it done. Or you could go the extra mile: organize the gear, sweep the floor, check that everything is ready for the next meal.
The first approach completes the assignment. The second approach actually helps. There's a difference between doing what you're told and being genuinely helpful. Helpful people don't stop at "good enough" - they think about what would truly make a difference.
A Scout is helpful enough to go the extra mile. This habit of exceeding minimum expectations sets you apart. Employers want to hire people like that. Colleges want students like that. Troops want leaders like that. Not because going the extra mile gets you credit, but because it shows you care more about actually helping than about just checking a box.
