| Notes: | A Cub Scout-friendly minute about forgiveness using the simple image of an eraser. |
Cubs, have you ever noticed that every pencil comes with an eraser on top? That's because the people who make pencils know something important: everybody makes mistakes. The eraser is right there, built in, ready to go. It's like the pencil is saying, 'Don't worry - you can try again.'
Forgiveness is like being an eraser for other people. When a friend says something that hurts your feelings and then says sorry, you can be the eraser. When someone accidentally knocks over your project and feels terrible about it, you can be the eraser. It doesn't mean the mistake never happened - you can still see a little smudge where the eraser was, right? But it means you're giving them a clean spot to try again.
And here's the really cool part: you can be your own eraser too. When you make a mistake, you don't have to feel bad about it forever. Say sorry, try to make it right, and then give yourself a fresh start. That's what erasers are for. So this week, when someone needs a second chance, be the eraser. And when you need one, remember - you've got one too.
