| Notes: | It takes courage to admit wrong and make amends. |
"I'm sorry. I was wrong. It was my fault." These might be the hardest words to say in any language. It's so much easier to make excuses, blame circumstances, or just hope everyone forgets about it.
A genuine apology requires multiple acts of courage: the courage to admit you were wrong, the courage to face someone you've hurt, the courage to accept responsibility without excuses, and the courage to commit to doing better. That's why many people avoid apologizing - it's genuinely hard.
A Scout is brave enough to apologize sincerely when we're wrong. Not a fake "I'm sorry if you were offended" apology that shifts blame. A real one: "I was wrong, I'm sorry, and here's what I'll do differently." That kind of bravery repairs relationships, builds character, and earns the deep respect of others - even when the original mistake lost it temporarily.
