Notes:For Arrow of Light and Webelos Scouts - using your experience as the oldest Cubs to help the youngest.

Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts, I want you to think back. Way back. Think about your very first pack meeting as a Tiger. Do you remember that night? Maybe your parent had to come with you because you were too nervous to go alone. Maybe you didn't know anyone. Maybe the Pledge of Allegiance felt like it lasted forever, and the older kids seemed so big, and you weren't sure you belonged there at all.

Now look at you. You're the big kids. You know the cheers, you know the songs, you know where everything is and how everything works. This pack is your home. But here's the thing - somewhere in this room tonight is a Tiger or a Wolf who feels exactly the way you felt back then. Nervous. Unsure. Wondering if anyone will talk to them.

You have something no adult leader can give that young Scout: you remember what it's like. You were that kid. And because you remember, you can do something powerful - you can walk up to them, sit next to them, show them the ropes, and say, 'Hey, it gets awesome. Stick around.' Coming from you, that means more than it ever could coming from a grownup.

Being the oldest in the pack isn't just about having the most beads or the coolest uniform. It's about using everything you've learned and everything you've felt to make things easier for the kids coming up behind you. That nervous Tiger? You were them. Now be the Scout you wish had helped you on your first night.
