When we say the Scout Oath, we promise to keep ourselves "physically strong." But what does that really mean?

Being physically strong isn't about being the fastest runner or lifting the heaviest weight. It means taking care of your body so it can do the things you need it to do. Your body is like a tool that helps you hike, play, help others, and explore the world.

You keep yourself physically strong by eating foods that fuel your body, like fruits, vegetables, and proteins. You stay strong by moving and exercising, whether that's playing outside, swimming, or even just walking. And you stay strong by getting enough sleep so your body can rest and grow.

When you take care of your body, you're ready for adventure. You can carry a heavy pack on a camping trip, help a friend who needs you, or finish a tough hike. Being physically strong means being ready to do your best.
