Notes:Conservation and thriftiness work together to protect natural resources.

Leave No Trace isn't just about keeping nature beautiful - it's about being thrifty with resources that don't belong to you. When you pack out all your trash, use existing campsites, and leave firewood for the next group, you're practicing thriftiness with nature's resources.

Nature doesn't have unlimited capacity to recover from our impact. Dead wood burns once and it's gone. Vegetation trampled by shortcuts takes years to grow back. Water polluted by soap takes a long time to clean itself. Using these resources carelessly today means someone tomorrow will have less.

A Scout is thrifty, and that extends beyond money to include natural resources. We're stewards of the outdoors, not owners. Being thrifty with nature means using only what we need, minimizing our impact, and leaving resources intact for the next generation of adventurers. That's thriftiness with a purpose that's bigger than ourselves.
