Happy Fourth of July, Scouts!
July 4th isn't just about fireworks and hot dogs—though those are fun! It's also a chance for us to remember one of the most important days in our country's history.
On July 4th, 1776, a group of leaders from the 13 colonies signed a powerful document called the Declaration of Independence. With it, they told the world: We are no longer ruled by the King of England. We are free. We are our own country.
That took incredible courage, because it meant going up against one of the most powerful nations in the world at the time.
That day marked the birth of the United States of America—a brand-new nation built on the bold idea that people should govern themselves, that freedom matters, and that every person has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Every year on July 4th, we celebrate those ideals. We wave the flag, march in parades, and watch fireworks light up the sky—not just because it's fun, but because we're honoring a moment when people stood up for what they believed in.
So today, as you enjoy the celebrations with your family, take a moment to remember the meaning behind the day. We're celebrating freedom, independence, and the brave spirit that helped shape our nation—values that Scouting teaches us to uphold every day.
Happy Independence Day!
