Hindenburg: When Plans Collapse

On May 6, 1937, the massive German airship Hindenburg was attempting to land in New Jersey. It was a symbol of luxury and technology-until something went terribly wrong.

As it neared the mooring mast, the ship suddenly erupted in flames. In less than a minute, the entire airship was destroyed. Thirty-six people died, but many survived-thanks to the fast actions of crew members and ground personnel who helped others escape.

The disaster was broadcast live, and it shocked the world. It also marked the end of the airship era.

Even well-laid plans can fall apart. But when they do, how we respond matters. As Scouts, we prepare not just for success-but for how to lead, help, and stay calm when things go wrong.
