Before meals at camp, many troops pause for a moment of thanks. Not everyone prays the same way - or at all. But that moment of gratitude is something nearly everyone can share, regardless of their beliefs. We're acknowledging that we're fortunate to have food, friends, and this experience.
Gratitude is itself a spiritual practice. When you regularly pause to appreciate what you have - your health, your family, your opportunities, even the ability to be outdoors - you're connecting with something bigger than yourself. You're recognizing that life is precious and much of what you enjoy wasn't earned solely through your own effort.
A Scout is reverent through gratitude. Whether you thank God, the universe, your parents, or simply acknowledge your good fortune, practicing thankfulness is a way of showing reverence for life itself. And people who regularly practice gratitude tend to be happier, more generous, and more aware of the sacred in everyday moments.
