Here's a question for you. If you do a Good Turn and nobody sees it, nobody thanks you, and nobody ever finds out you did it, does it still count?
Think about it for a second.
A lot of good things get done because somebody is watching. You clean your room because Mom is going to check. You help at the service project because the whole troop is there. That's fine. Those still count.
But some of the best Good Turns are the ones nobody ever knows about. A bike gets knocked over in the rain, and you stand it back up. Someone drops a dollar and walks away, and you run after them. The dishes are piled up at camp, and you wash them before anyone wakes up. Nobody saw. Nobody said thank you.
Here's what I think. A Good Turn nobody sees might be the most honest kind. You didn't do it for a badge, or a pat on the back, or to look good. You did it because it needed doing, and you're the kind of Scout who does what needs doing.
This week, try a secret Good Turn. Do something kind and don't tell anybody. Not your patrol, not your parents, not me. Only you will know.
Notice how it feels.
