Ember and the Spark, The

Notes: | A short campfire reflection that uses the image of a spark and ember to teach about small choices and their lasting impact. Perfect for closing campfire. |
At the end of every fire, there's always an ember—glowing quietly in the ashes. It may not look like much. But given the right fuel, the right breath of air, and the right moment… that ember can light the next fire. Or it can go dark and cold.
That's a lot like the choices we make every day as Scouts. A kind word. A moment of honesty. Helping someone pack up their gear. These are sparks—small, often unnoticed. But they catch. They warm others. They spread.
Of course, a careless spark can start a wildfire too. That's why we teach fire safety—and why we teach leadership with care. One Scout's choice can set the tone for the whole patrol.
Tonight, as we let our fire fade to coals, remember: even the smallest ember carries potential. Your spark matters. What will you do with it?
