You have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. That is not a small thing. Less than four percent of all Scouts who start this journey finish it. Tonight, you are in that four percent.
Now I need to tell you something important: this is not where the story ends.
Eagle Scout is a rank you carry for the rest of your life. People will know you earned it - on a resume, in a conversation, in a moment when someone needs to know if they can count on you. And when they find out, they will watch how you live. Not to catch you failing. But because the rank means something to them too, and they want to believe it still does.
The Scout Law is no longer something you recite. It is something you own. Trustworthy, loyal, helpful - those aren't requirements anymore. They're yours. You've had years to practice them. Now you practice them without anyone keeping score.
You came to Scouting as a young person who needed to be taught. You leave it as someone who knows how to teach. That knowledge is not for keeping. Find the Scout who needs it and give it away.
