The Eagle badge is smaller than you think. Surprising, for what it represents.
Tonight you'll hear a lot about what you accomplished. The merit badges, the project, the years of meetings and campouts. That's all true, and it all matters. But I suspect what's going through your mind right now isn't a list of achievements. It's something harder to name.
You're probably thinking about the campout where everything went wrong and somehow you held it together. The merit badge you almost didn't finish. The project that nearly fell apart in the middle and you had to figure out - on your own - how to pull it back. The night you thought seriously about quitting, and didn't.
That's what the badge represents. Not the requirements you checked off. The version of yourself you had to become to check them off.
Hold onto that. The badge is small. What you built is not.
