Doing Your Best—Win or Lose

Notes: | A reminder to be proud of effort, win or lose, and to show good sportsmanship. |
Scouts, in every game, every race, every contest—there's always going to be a winner. And yes, that also means there's someone who doesn't win.
And that can be tough. Maybe you tried your hardest. Maybe you were hoping this would be your moment. But here's something important to remember:
Winning is fun, but doing your best is what really counts. If you gave it your all—if you practiced, focused, and played fair—then you can stand tall no matter what the scoreboard says.
It also means showing respect. If someone else wins, say "good job." Give them a high five. Why? Because good sportsmanship is part of being a Scout. It shows strength, kindness, and character.
And if you're the one who wins? Be humble. Thank others. You didn't win alone—you had people to compete with, to challenge you, and help you grow.
Scouting isn't about being the best. It's about doing your best. So be proud. And keep trying. Because next time, it might just be your turn.
Win or lose—if you do your best and treat others kindly—you're already a winner in the ways that matter most.
