Cub Scouts, I want you to meet somebody special. This is (den chief's name).

A few years ago, (den chief's name) was sitting right where you are. They were a Cub Scout in a den just like yours, going to pack meetings, earning adventures, and racing in the Pinewood Derby.

Now they're a Scout in a troop. They go camping for whole weekends. They've learned to build fires, cook outdoors, find their way with a compass, and lead other Scouts. And out of everything they could be doing, they chose to come help your den.

That's what a den chief is. An older Scout who helps your den leader, leads games, teaches you skills, and shows you what Scouting is like when you get older.

So here's what I'd like from you. Listen to your den chief, the same way you'd listen to your den leader. Ask them questions. They know a lot of cool stuff. And when they ask for your help, give it to them.

Someday, if you stick with Scouting, you could be the one standing up here in front of a den of Cub Scouts. Pay attention to how your den chief does it.

Let's give (den chief's name) a big pack welcome!
