Webelos, your rank has a funny name. Have you ever wondered what it means? It's not an animal like Lion, Tiger, Wolf, or Bear. It's actually a secret message, hiding in plain sight.

Webelos stands for "WE'll BE LOyal Scouts." Take the first letters of each part, W-E-B-E-L-O-S, and you get Webelos.

So what does it mean to be a loyal Scout? It means sticking with your friends, your den, and your family, even when it's hard. It means living by the Scout Law when nobody is watching. And it means sticking with Scouting, because the trail goes a long way from here.

Being a Webelos is a big step. You're one of the oldest Cub Scouts in the pack now. You'll do more outdoor adventures, more camping, and more things on your own. The younger Cubs look up to you, and the den needs you to help lead.

And there's something else to know. In just a year or two, you'll have the chance to earn the Arrow of Light and cross over into a Scout troop. Your time as a Cub Scout is going to go fast.

So make it count. Be the Scout your name says you are. We'll be loyal Scouts.
