Notes:True sportsmanship means being courteous especially in competition.

When your team is winning, it's easy to be gracious. But what about when you're losing? Do you shake hands with the winners? Do you congratulate them sincerely? And when you're winning, do you gloat and show off, or do you respect the effort your opponents made?

Competition brings out the best and worst in people. It's easy to let the desire to win override courtesy and respect. But sports, games, and competitions are ultimately about more than victory - they're about testing yourself alongside others who are doing the same thing.

A Scout is courteous to opponents and teammates alike. We play hard, we play fair, and we treat competitors with respect whether we win or lose. Because the game ends, but the reputation you build for sportsmanship lasts. And being known as someone who competes with honor and courtesy is worth more than any trophy.
