| Notes: | The cleanest feeling of all is a conscience clear of guilt and regret. |
You can shower until you're spotless, but if you're carrying guilt from something wrong you've done, you won't feel clean. There's a kind of dirt that soap can't wash away - the weight of a guilty conscience.
A clean conscience comes from living according to your values. When you make mistakes, you admit them and make amends. When you're tempted to do wrong, you choose right instead. When you hurt someone, you apologize sincerely. This kind of cleanliness is deeper than any physical cleanliness.
A Scout is clean in conscience as well as body. We live in a way that lets us sleep peacefully at night, knowing we've done our best to do right. And when we fall short - because everyone does - we clean our conscience through honesty, apology, and making things right. That's the kind of clean that really matters.
