Brave Enough to Fail

Notes:Taking risks and learning from mistakes requires courage and builds resilience.

You can play it safe - only attempt things you know you can do, only try skills you've mastered, only take challenges where success is guaranteed. You'll never fail, but you'll also never grow beyond where you are right now.

Or you can be brave enough to risk failure. To attempt the harder rank requirement. To try out for a competitive position. To take on a challenge where success isn't certain. Yes, you might fail. But you might also succeed beyond your expectations. And even if you fail, you'll learn something valuable.

A Scout is brave enough to fail, because we understand that failure isn't the opposite of success - it's part of the path toward it. Every Eagle Scout has failed requirements and had to retry them. Every skilled outdoorsman has built fires that wouldn't light and tied knots that came undone. The difference is they were brave enough to keep trying despite the failures.
