Leader: "Color Guard, Attention!"

Leader: "Audience, please rise for the retiring of the colors!"

Give time for the audience to stand.

Leader: "Scout Salute! Those not in uniform, please place your right hand over your heart."

Leader: "Color Guard, Forward March!"

Color guard proceeds to the front in the same order as the opening ceremony: U.S. Flag in front or to the right, followed by POW/MIA, State, and Troop flags.

Leader: "Color Guard, Halt!"

Leader: "Color Guard, Retrieve the Colors!"

Flags are removed from the stands in reverse order: Troop, then State, then POW/MIA, then U.S. Flag. U.S. Flag should be the last to be retrieved and should not dip or touch the ground.

Leader: "Color Guard, Honor your Colors!"

All flag bearers turn to face the U.S. Flag and render a salute. U.S. Flag bearer returns the salute if not bearing the flag.

Leader: "TWO!"

All salutes are dropped.

Leader: "Color Guard, Reform!"

Flag bearers regroup into original formation facing the rear of the room.

Leader: "Color Guard, Forward March!"

Color guard marches to the back of the room.

Leader: "Color Guard, Halt!"

Leader: "Audience, you may be seated."

You may now dismiss your unit, end with a song, or proceed with closing remarks or awards. This formal ceremony ensures the U.S. Flag is respectfully retired for the evening.
