Leader: "Color Guard, Attention!"
Leader: "Audience, please rise for the retiring of the colors!"
Give time for the audience to stand.Leader: "Scout Salute! Those not in uniform, please place your right hand over your heart."
Leader: "Color Guard, Forward March!"
Color guard proceeds to the front in the same order as the opening ceremony: U.S. Flag in front or to the right, followed by POW/MIA, State, and Troop flags.Leader: "Color Guard, Halt!"
Leader: "Color Guard, Retrieve the Colors!"
Flags are removed from the stands in reverse order: Troop, then State, then POW/MIA, then U.S. Flag. U.S. Flag should be the last to be retrieved and should not dip or touch the ground.Leader: "Color Guard, Honor your Colors!"
All flag bearers turn to face the U.S. Flag and render a salute. U.S. Flag bearer returns the salute if not bearing the flag.Leader: "TWO!"
All salutes are dropped.Leader: "Color Guard, Reform!"
Flag bearers regroup into original formation facing the rear of the room.Leader: "Color Guard, Forward March!"
Color guard marches to the back of the room.Leader: "Color Guard, Halt!"
Leader: "Audience, you may be seated."
You may now dismiss your unit, end with a song, or proceed with closing remarks or awards. This formal ceremony ensures the U.S. Flag is respectfully retired for the evening.
